Welcome to the Cavendish-Teakean Elementary web page!
Cavendish Elementary is a one-room schoolhouse that services grades K-6. In the 2009-2010 school year we have:

Mrs. Jenine Nord is our Head Teacher. She taught 18 years in the Boise School District. This is her second year here as our Head Teacher and she loves it! Mrs. Julie Huffman is our morning aid. She works primarily with Kindergarten and first grade students teaching math, language, and reading. She also works with second grade students in math. She is always willing to take time to help any of the other students as well. Mrs. Sharon Shropshire is our afternoon aid. She watches over the students during the lunch break and is always helpful when a child has a question. She also teaches Science and Social Studies to the first through third grade students as well as teaches P.E. to all of the students twice a week. Mrs. Tona Morgan, a parent of one our students, is our custodian.
We are fortunate to have a very supportive and involved P.T.A. and a lot of parent help at our school. They help teach, make lunches, and help the students have a good time. The parents help teach reading, math, art and music. They also create games for school parties. Many bring some type of treat for birthdays and celebrations. Mrs. Rene Olson teaches music to the students twice a week. This year she is working with the students to create their own musical based on the book The Gift Bear for the winter performance in December. Mrs. Kristen Roubidoux volunteers twice a week to work with students on their math, reading, and language. Mrs. Darlyn Lanier, among many other things, volunteers once a week to do all of the photocopying for the teachers. Mrs. Alyce Arnsberg, a school board member, volunteers as an art mom and is involved in many other ways as well. Mrs. Leigh Ann Newman is our P.T.A. president.
This year the students have been studying about business and investing. They have created a company called Creative Wildcat Cards. The P.T.A. has offered to "invest" in our company. The students are studying the elements of photography in art. They will be making note cards with their photographs to sell as a fund raiser.
